Jessica Simpson Gets in on the Mint Game, with BeautyMint
“On October 1st, BeachMint will launch their third site—BeautyMint. Their first, JewelMint, offers jewelry from Kate Bosworth and her stylist Cher Coulter. The second, StyleMint, shills t-shirts from the Olsen empire. In both cases, you sign up to be a member of the site and take a style quiz.  Based on that, and what you click on when, you’re offered a new product every month (which you don’t have to buy).  BeautyMint will follow the same rules.”

“Comprised of a whopping 140 pieces, the J Brand Sportswear 2012 collection will offer everything from leather jackets and loose tops to sweat pants and slinky skirts. Spearheaded by new design director, Donald Oliver, he says of the line and the customer, “We wanted her to feel relevant, not trendy, not like she’s trying too hard, which is why I think the garments have an ease about them.”

“The Autograph range has always been the sharply tailored sibling to the mainline M&S collections, which makes the casting more likely than at first it doth seem – M&S Executive Director Steve Sharp puts it thus – ‘Rosie and Ryan are the perfect fit for Autograph – beautiful, exclusive and absolutely contemporary’.”

Thandie Newton Newest Star of Louis Vuitton’s Double Exposure Film Series (Vogue UK)
“Louis Vuitton has chosen British actress Thandie Newton as the star of the latest chapter in its Double Exposure film series. The project, which debuted with artist Sam Taylor Wood earlier this year, creates two “portraits” of the sitter: one a literal portrait, using a 19th Century photographic technique called the collodion wet plate process; and the other a portrait of the subject’s inner self, in a film where the sitter reveals their most treasured possessions and the story behind them.”

CFDA Asks Models to Show ID (WWD)
“Last season, Diane von Furstenberg — herself a passionate advocate of health guidelines for models — got herself into a sticky situation when she learned that one of her runway models, Hailey Clauson, was only 15. The mishap must have inspired the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America to introduce new guidelines.”
