Marc Jacobs To Dior? New Report Says The Move Is Likely
(Huffington Post)
“Sure, the rumor mill has already churned out Marc Jacobs’ name for the top job at Christian Dior. But it also had contestants as unlikely as Alexander Wang, Christian Lacriox and Keren Craig of Marchesa thrown into the mix, not to mention the much more likely Riccardo Tisci. Now, reports Women’s Wear Daily, it’s time to take the Marc Jacobs speculation seriously. “According to sources,” writes the ever-reliable fashion newspaper, LVMH head Bernard Arnault has been in talks with Jacobs about filling the top spot at Christian Dior.”

Has Globalization Ruined Street Style? (New York Times)
“The fall issue of The New York Times Style Magazine, has an article on what young people are wearing in the streets of London, Cairo and Tokyo. The fashion displays are both surprising — Barbour jackets are cool in London! — and not unexpected — Egyptian flags everywhere in Cairo. As we scan the photos in fashion magazines and click on to blogs that chronicle the latest trends, we can’t help but wonder: How has globalization affected street style?”

Steven Robinson, John Galliano’s Right-Hand Man, Died of A Cocaine Overdose in 2007 (Fashionologie)
“It has come to light that Steven Robinson, John Galliano’s longtime right-hand man at Dior who passed away in 2007 at the age of 38, did not die of a heart attack as it was reported at the time. Instead, according to new reports, his cause of death was a cocaine overdose — he was found in his Paris home with up to 7 grams of the drug in his system.”

Vogue Italia Runs Feature on ‘Slave Earrings,’ Changes Headline to ‘Ethnic Earrings’ – Does That Make It Better? (Fashionista)
“Slavery was one of the greatest perversions of human rights that has ever happened in modern history–and it continues to leave deep scars, even today. So, needless to say, using the term to describe a trend, or fashion accessory, is well, just plain wrong. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what has happened. Last night, Jezebel reported that Vogue Italia posted a feature entitled “Slave Earrings” on their website. The piece features a runway shot of a woman wearing oversized hoop earrings and suggested several earrings in the same style, describing them as classic “slave and creole styles.”

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady Highest Paid Celebrity Couple (Forbes)
“Coming first on our ranking is the powerful duo formed by supermodel Gisele Bundchen and NFL superstar Tom Brady. Thanks to a monster year filled with fashion and endorsement deals, not to mention a few business ventures that could put her on the road to becoming the world’s first billionaire supermodel, Bundchen pocketed a massive $45 million over the 12-month period. Not to be overshadowed by his more famous wife, Brady – who signed a four-year, $72 million contract extension in September with the New England Patriots, NFL’s richest deal on an annual basis – brought home another $31 million, putting the couple’s combined annual earnings at $76 million.”
